Millfield House is situated within the lovely hamlet of Maiden Law, just one mile from Lanchester in County Durham where you will find all the essential local amenities, pubs, restaurants and coffee houses and only 10 minutes from Durham’s Cathedral City which boasts an array of things to do and places to see. The house is an ideal location to stay if you have children attending Durham School or Durham University.

 

Newcastle City Centre is just a short 30 minute drive away where you can spend the day exploring its cultural attractions such as museums, fine dining, theatre and of course, great shopping!

 

There are so many family fun activities around Millfield House you'll be spoilt for choice. Just ten minutes away is the world famous and award-winning Beamish Museum (we offer discounts into the museum), Diggerland, Mini Moos Farm plus many more for you to enjoy a memorable day out.

Millfield House was built in 1850 and has been lovingly refurbished by us to a very high standard, whilst still retaining many of its original features. This is a great choice for families, friends, a couples retreat or a business stay and the area is also ideal for walkers and cyclists, with easy access to the nearby scenic C2C route! Secure storage for bicycles is available too.

Accommodation:

Entrance: Large Porch with hooks for coats and a boot area.

 

Living Area: Spacious living room with beamed ceiling, comfy leather sofas, flat screen TV and a Blu Ray player.

 

Kitchen: Fully equipped with toaster, kettle, cooker, fridge/freezer, washing macine, iPod docking station/radio and dining table seating four.

 

Master Bedroom: Large room with a king-size bed, antique wardrobe and dressing table, bedside tables, lamps and a Lloyd Loom Chair. (Please note: there is room in this bedroom for a travel cot).

 

Twin Bedroom: Two full sized single beds, shared bedside table and small chest of drawers. Views of the rear garden and beyond.

 

Family Bathroom: Lovely white suite with electric shower over bath, WC and hand wash basin.

 

Outside: Rear door opens on to enclosed, secure patio area with outdoor seating and BBQ, plus additional lawned area.

 

There is off road parking for two cars.

 

A lovely welcome pack will be there to greet you.

 

Non smoking accomodation.

 

One well behaved dog is welcome downstairs (Please note there is an additional charge).

 

Walkers and cyclists welcome (secure lock up for bicycles).

We have lived in Maiden Law for 4 years and run our graphic design company from a studio built in the garden.

 

Our idea to renovate the house next door into a self catering property, was born out of wanting to share the beautiful surrounding area with others. The house was built in 1850 and has been totally renovated to create a warm and comfortable holiday home.

 

Millfield House was named after we researched the old land registry plans and found the property was built on land formerly known as Millfield.

 

Although we live and work next door, you will hardly know we are there, unless of course you need us. However you may see Coco our friendly dog popping her head over the fence once in a while to say hello!
